Visual Rhetoric Description
For the visual piece of my project I had planned to make a display out of an empty spray paint can and other objects. To start off I planned on using the empty can as the focal point of the visual. The can will be painted with different colors to show the variety that graffiti artists use to express emotion. I also have planned to cut out a piece of the can to make it like a view inside of it with a political cartoon in it. Besides that I plan on tracing and cutting out words on cardboard such as:message, emotion,etc... to show that graffiti isn't always about vandalism. From there I plan on using some type of wire to make it seem as if those words are spraying out of the tip.

The message which is trying to be portrayed here by Jose is that graffiti is an expression of ones views. His design was a spray paint can which, instead of spraying paint, sprayed words out like message and emotion. I feel like this object is trying to convey that fact that vandalism, via spray painting, can send messages and portray the original creator’s opinions and emotions. The intended audience for this object would be people who like painting and also people who like to express themselves. The reason for this is because the spray can capture others eyes because of the bright colors on the can. Also people who like to express themselves because they will see that the spray can is spraying out words instead of paint. This object makes me feel like we should just allow vandalism because people don’t vandalize just to vandalize, they only do it because they want to express themselves and voice their opinions. When I think of this object I start thinking about a graffiti artist trying to run away from the police and then later trying to tell the cops he was only expressing his emotions.
